I find it helps if I understand the challenges they have in their work and jobs – get inside their mind. If I can then relate that back to the achievements or objectives I’ve delivered in previous roles, or aspects of my experience that I can relate back to their challenges, it has a positive effect not just on the role but also on my confidence in winning the role.

Mindset is often a mis-quoted and mis-understood thing, but you know when you feel it if you’re in the right mindset or not.
